37 weeks

Apparently I haven't posted in 37 weeks. Personally, I'm impressed, but 37 is a nice number so I'll cut the streak off at that.  Also, I think that means it's been roughly 37 weeks since I bought my house, so that's impressive. Mostly, I'm posting to kill time since I can't sleep.

...just a teacher. My schedule is now more reasonable since the Fall play is over at school, so I might have a wider social life at some point. I'm still feeling kind of meh, though. Certain things just don't seem worth doing anymore now that my energies are elsewhere and directed towards the kiddos. I know I've said it in the past, but I think I really do feel like I'm too damn old for some shit. Either that or my standards have changed now that I see what immaturity looks like on a daily basis, and the pain it causes.

Packing for Ireland is going well, and I'm starting to get excited and nervous.  I haven't done any real travel in a while, so I'm afraid I'm going to be out of practice negotiating change.  Then again, wevs, I'm *going to Ireland*!  The forecast: daytime highs of 65-67, with some rain, a.k.a. Paradise itself.

Hope you all are enjoying/not suffering terribly through/duly ignoring this fictional patriarch-saluting holiday. I found this and had to share.

Back to lying around in mild discomfort for me.

In other Disney news...

This can only end badly.

Two hilarious and interesting entries in the food-news category.

All the Trek nerds have probably already read this, but here it is anyway.

Finally, I am looking for some summer reading suggestions.  So far I've planned on reading Brave New World (borrowed from Benjamin) and re-reading Romeo and Juliet and The Odyssey to get ready for maybe teaching 9th grade.  Suggestions? (preferably stuff I can get from a library since I'm gonna be broke-ish)

Are you in the market for...

...a kid you can unplug at night?

I like the possibilities for trying out different models of language-acquisition to see which one sticks.  Also, I've been thinking a lot about the autism spectrum lately, so I wonder if fake-children can't be used to help parents/teachers adapt to that world.

Here's some Tesla-past-future-technology-power reading.  And an interesting but not surprising video article.

In other news "It's not as bad as a plate of noodles".  One of my fav quotes so far in a nanotech article.
